On Sept. 7, 2017 at approximately 2:50 p.m., a 19-year-old King City woman was operating a Mazda southbound on Scottsdale Drive from Stone Road West.

This driver made an abrupt left turn from the southbound right hand lane to enter a driveway on the east side of the road. In doing so, the driver turned across the path of a southbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by a 48-year-old Guelph man. That motorcycle struck the driver’s door of the Mazda and the rider was ejected onto the roadway.

The motorcycle operator was transported to Guelph General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Damage to the motorcycle was extensive. Damage to the Mazda was minor.

The driver of the Mazda has been charged with turn not in safety.

Scottsdale Drive (southbound) was closed to southbound traffic for a short period of time while the incident was being investigated.

Witnesses are asked to contact Constable Paul Cook of the Guelph Police Traffic and School Safety Unit at 519-824-1212 at ext. 7413.
