A cargo van thrice struck a BMW in a restaurant drive-through last month, police say, leading to an arrest this past Wednesday.

A Cambridge resident called police shortly before 10 a.m. on Nov. 29 to report a series of events that played out in a restaurant drive-through on Wellington Street West and Imperial Road South.

The man told police his BMW was struck from behind and when he got out, he noticed the other driver was laughing before moving forward and striking his car again. The victim reportedly pulled out of the drive-through and the van followed, intentionally driving into the BMW’s front fender before leaving the parking lot.

The victim’s vehicle sustained about $2,500 in damage.

Police say the two drivers don’t know each other.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 37-year-old Guelph man in relation to the incident. He’s charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.
