Guelph police are investigating after a motor vehicle was reported stolen Saturday a few hours after it was involved in a hit and run.

Approximately 5:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to a hit and run on Cityview Drive. A silver motor vehicle had struck a pole and fled. It was believed the vehicle would have sustained significant front-end damage.

Approximately two hours later police received a report of a heavily damaged vehicle abandoned near the intersection of Callander Drive and Tobey Avenue. Both front tires were flat and officers noted the damage was consistent with the vehicle being involved in the earlier collision.

Later Saturday morning, about 11:45 a.m., a male attended the Guelph Police station to report the vehicle had been stolen overnight from his address in the west end.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Jasmin Manani at 519-824-1212, ext. 7273, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous message online at www.csgw.tips.
