Wakeup call on Macdonell ends in impaired charge

At approximately 3:05 a.m. this morning, police were alerted by a person concerned about the wellbeing of a male that was asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on Macdonell Street.

The male was slow to respond to police attempts to wake him up but when they were finally able to rouse the man, interaction with him led to the belief that he was impaired by alcohol.

The male was arrested and taken to the station where testing revealed that he was above the legal limit. Andrew Baxter, a 20-year-old St. Thomas man was charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired and having care and control of a motor vehicle over .80mgs.

 He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
