The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:
Low speed pursuit
On April 3, 2018 at approximately 10:15 a.m. while on routine patrol in the north end of the city, Guelph police observed a green Chrysler being driven by a male that was known to be suspended. Police activated light and sirens to stop the vehicle and the driver fled. A pursuit was initiated, where speeds did not go over 30 km/h. Due to the relatively low speed, police continued to pursue the vehicle. The vehicle suddenly pulled into a driveway of a residence and the driver was immediately arrested. The pursuit did not last more than a few minutes.
Ricky Edwards, a 33-year-old Guelph man, was arrested and charged with flight from police, possession of stolen property and several Highway Traffic Act offences. He was given a May 15, 2018 court date.
Break and enter investigations
On April 3, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Guelph Street residential building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a laundry facility sometime overnight, caused damage and stole money. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. G. On April 3, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Clair Road East address to investigate a break and enter to a construction site. The culprit(s) entered sometime over the weekend and stole tools.
