On August 2, 2016 at 3:50 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) observed a male in the downtown area that was allegedly breaching a condition of his recognizance.

H.E.A.T. Team Makes an Arrest

On August 2, 2016 at 3:50 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) observed a male in the downtown area that was allegedly breaching a condition of his recognizance. The male was placed under arrest. In addition to four counts of breaching his order of recognizance, the 35-year-old Guelph male was further charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was held for bail hearing.

Guelph Transit Driver Assaulted – Arrest Made

It is alleged that on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at noon, a male on a transit bus, approached the driver and assaulted him. Police were called and an investigation into the matter was initiated. On Tuesday, August 2, 2016 the male passenger was arrested. A 72-year-old Guelph male was charged with assault and two counts of breaching his probation order.  He was subsequently held for a bail hearing. There were no serious injuries as a result of this incident.

Drive over 80 mg - arrest

On August 2, 2016 at 11:40 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle in the area of Kortright / Gordon. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Tawfiq Kamal, 19 years old of Hamilton has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on August 16, 2016.

Break and enter Incidents

On August 2, 2016, the Guelph Police went to Esker Run residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime between during the evening hours of August 1, 2016.  A wallet and passports were stolen.
