Suspended driver, youths charged, calls for service

The following are news releases issued by the Guelph Police Service:

On Dec. 13, 2017 at 2:18 a.m., Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle travelling through downtown. Investigation determined the driver was working for Uber and was a suspended driver.

The 30-year-old Woodstock man was charged with driving while under suspension as per the Highway Traffic Act.

On Dec. 12, the Guelph Police Service completed an investigation that involved a group of young persons who had targeted another young person and subjected that person to assaults and threats over the course of weeks at different locations in the city.

The victim did not receive any injuries that required medical attention. All the young persons were known to each other and a total of seven people have been charged with a combination of assault, uttering threats, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous offences.

Due to the age of the victim and the young people involved, no other information regarding this investigation will released.

Over the course of the day on Dec. 12, 2107 the Guelph Police Service responded to 218 calls for service.
