Cruiser struck – impaired driver arrested On March 1, 2016 at 11:19 a.m., the Guelph Police were on Cole Road and the police cruiser was parked on the road while the officer was attending to his call.

Cruiser struck – impaired driver arrested

On March 1, 2016 at 11:19 a.m., the Guelph Police were on Cole Road and the police cruiser was parked on the road while the officer was attending to his call. A blue Ford Ranger pickup truck then drove across a front yard, through a fence and struck the parked cruiser. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Michael Hagarty, 31 years old of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on March 15, 2016.

Impaired driver arrested

On March 1, 2016 at 3:10 p.m., the Guelph Police received a call from a concerned motorist who believed they were being followed by another car. Police located both vehicles on Gordon Street near Stone Road East and a traffic stop was conducted. Police spoke with the male driver, determined that he had been drinking alcohol and he was arrested.

Kerry Oxford, 41 years old of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on March 18, 2016.

Break and enter

On March 1, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Vanier Drive residence to investigate a break and enter that occurred sometime overnight. The culprit(s) located a house key inside the unlocked car in the driveway, entered the home and then stole the car keys and the car. A 2005 Volkswagen TDI, plate # BNEE605 is reported stolen.

Theft investigation - arrest

On March 1, 2016 the Guelph Police arrested a male following an investigation into a theft from a commercial property. It is alleged that on February 28, 2016 at approximately 6 a.m., the male entered the vestibule at 87 Neeve Street. He then pried open the fire safety box and stole two binders from within.

A 35-year-old Guelph man has been charged with theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 2, 2016.
