On the evening of February 18, 2017, a 2004 Mazda was travelling at a high rate of speed on Stevenson Street when it mounted the curb, struck two roads signs, a fence and finally a tree near Bennett Avenue.

Charges laid in collision

On the evening of Feb. 18, 2017,  a 2004 Mazda was travelling at a high rate of speed on Stevenson Street when it mounted the curb, struck two roads signs, a fence and finally a tree near Bennett Avenue. At the time of the collision, the male driver was transported to hospital to deal with injuries he sustained in the crash. Further investigation into that crash has resulted in charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, drive over .08mg and dangerous driving.

On the morning of Mar. 7, Scott Dunn 49 years of age from Guelph, surrendered himself to police and was released to appear in court on Mar. 21, 2017.

Traffic stop results in two arrests

At approximately 1:20 a.m. today, police observed a vehicle that was driving erratically on Waterloo Avenue and had an expired validation permit on the license plate. The vehicle was stopped and four people were found inside. Investigation revealed that the license of the 34-year-old Hamilton driver was currently under suspension and he was arrested for driving under suspension. He was released to appear in Provincial Offences court at a later date.

It was also learned that a 33-year-old Hamilton passenger in the car was wanted on an outstanding committal warrant from a previous conviction for driving under suspension. He too was arrested and transported directly to Maplehurst Correctional Complex.
