Earlier this morning at 1:51 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the rear of the Willow West Mall, 111 Silvercreek Parkway North after receiving a phone call from a concerned citizen that a male appeared to be trying to break in.

Break and enter

Earlier this morning at 1:51 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the rear of the Willow West Mall, 111 Silvercreek Parkway North after receiving a phone call from a concerned citizen that a male appeared to be trying to break in. A male was located by a loading bay door that showed a visible gap at its base from being pried. The male was arrested and the subsequent search discovered tools consistent with use in break and enters and a small quantity of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine.

A 42-year-old Guelph man has been charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter tools and possession of a controlled substance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 17, 2017.

Bike recovered- male arrested

Sometime overnight on May 15, an unknown person entered the unlocked garage at a Bonar Place home and took a distinctive mountain bike valued at $2,000. At approximately 6:15 a.m. this morning, an alert patrol officer observed a male riding, what appeared to be that bicycle, on Wellington Street near the Hanlon Parkway. He stopped to investigate and was able to confirm that it was the stolen bike in question. The male was arrested.

The 21-year-old Guelph man was charged with possession of stolen property, breach of recognizance and two counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody to appear in bail court today.
