Eight different vehicles entered around the city

Break and enter

At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at a Scottsdale Drive business and arrived quickly to find the front glass door smashed out with no one around. Once inside it was clear that cigarettes were the target of the crime and numerous brands were taken from inside.

Theft from vehicles

Overnight on May 1, there were eight different vehicles entered around the city. They were located on Cardigan Street, Wyndham Street, King Street, Galt Street, Westoby Place, Massey Road, Paisley Road, and Janefield Avenue. Money, person papers (including income tax returns) and an assortment of personal property was taken.

For the most part, this crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle, and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. On May 2, 2017 the Guelph Police Service responded to 177 calls for service.
