At approximately 1 a.m. today, there was an altercation that started in the downstairs area at a Silvercreek Parkway and then continued upstairs.

The following is a news release from Guelph Police:

Disturbance arrest

At approximately 1 a.m. today, there was an altercation that started in the downstairs area at a Silvercreek Parkway and then continued upstairs. A number of people got involved and it was alleged that a female struck another person with a high-heeled shoe, causing a cut to the back of the head. Police arrived to investigate and as a result, an 18-year-old female was arrested for assault with a weapon.

Kira Sanchez of St. Catharines was later released to appear in court in July.

There was also another 22-year-old Milton female involved who was arrested for breaching the conditions of her recognizance. Jaiah Paris was later released to appear in court in July as well.

Convenience store arrest

At 5 a.m. this morning, a man entered a Gordon Street convenience store behaving erratically and refusing to pay for items that he had selected. The clerk quickly called police when the man walked out of the store.  His erratic behavior continued when he was spoken to by police and he was arrested for theft, causing a disturbance and breach of probation. The 22-year-old Guelph man was held in custody to appear in bail court later today.

It was a very busy day for police who responded to 226 calls for service on May 30, 2017.
