In the last 24 hours, Guelph Police dealt with 243 calls for service

The following information was issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Attempt murder charge laid
Recently, the Guelph Police began an investigation in which a male was charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and breach probation. The male was arrested at the scene, and the victim was treated for their injuries. Through investigation, the male has now been charged with attempt murder.

Smash and grab arrest
On Nov. 21, 2018 at approximately 2:41 a.m., Guelph Police received a call about a window being smashed out of a car and items being stolen on Cork Street.

Police located the male on MacDonell Street and the male was arrested. David McLauchlin, a 33-year-old Guelph male was charged with possession of stolen property, theft under $5,000, Mischief Under $5,000, and possession of break-in tools.

McLauchlin is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2019.
