Crossing guard rule enforcement

Guelph Police responded to a complaint of adult school crossing guard violations at the intersection of Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North. On two separate days police have issued four tickets to drivers who have failed to wait for the adult school crossing guard to leave the roadway before proceeding. The Highway Traffic Act require drivers to wait for both the pedestrians and the adult school crossing guard to clear the intersection prior to proceeding. The penalty for not doing so is a $180 fine. Guelph Police want to remind everyone that the children’s safety is paramount.
