Two robberies — arrest

On November 13, 2016 the Guelph Police began investigating a robbery.

It is alleged that at approximately 8:40 a.m., in the area of Woolwich Street at Douglas Street, an 82-year-old man was approached by an unknown female who forcibly took his keys and stole his car. Shortly after, police located the car and a traffic stop was attempted.

The female failed to stop and began driving dangerously which caused police to halt the attempt for safety reasons. Police later located the vehicle abandoned downtown.

At 5:13 p.m., police received the report that a female with a scarf covering her face had just grabbed a purse off the shoulder of a 54-year-old woman walking in the Norfolk Street area.

At 5:45 p.m., police located the female on Carden Street and she was arrested. A search subsequent to her arrest discovered property stolen from two Guelph businesses. Neither victim reported injuries.

A 29-year-old female of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of robbery, disguise with intent, theft of motor vehicle, flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property and two counts of theft under $5,000.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on November 14, 2016.
