A Brampton woman faces charges after staff of a Guelph bank on Thursday reported suspicious activity from a customer attempting to open a bank account.

Approximately 11:30 a.m. police were called to a bank in the city’s south end, where a woman was attempting to open an account using a permanent resident card. Staff did not believe the card was legitimate.

Officers attended and determined the card was fake and had the woman's photo but a different name on it. Investigation revealed she is on bail with a condition not to attend any bank unless accessing an account in her own name.

A 48-year-old is charged with uttering a forged document and breaching an undertaking.
