A Guelph woman faces charges after a man and his dog were both reportedly assaulted in Downtown Guelph on Thursday afternoon.

Approximately 4:40 p.m., police say a man was walking his dog downtown when a woman unknown to him approached and began throwing flowers at the dog. The man asked her to stop, at which point the female kicked the dog in the snout causing it to yelp in pain.

When the man started calling 911, the woman slapped him in the face then walked away. She was located by officers minutes later.

A 30-year-old woman is charged with assault and cruelty to animals.

Investigation revealed the woman is already facing an assault charge after a stranger was punched in the neck earlier this month outside a west end business. She was held for a bail hearing Friday.
