A Guelph woman was arrested after a Guelph police sergeant was reportedly assaulted at a south end residence Wednesday night.

Approximately 11 p.m. officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in the area of Victoria Road South and MacAlister Boulevard. As officers were attempting to check the well-being of everyone on scene, a woman became belligerent and repeatedly swore at them.

She approached a sergeant and took a swing at him, then used both hands to shove him causing him to stumble backwards. The officer was not injured.

A 48-year-old Guelph woman is charged with assaulting a peace officer.
