Speed and alcohol were factors in the early morning hours on Jan. 22, when a 20-year-old Georgetown man was driving westbound on Woolwich Street, and failed to safely negotiate a right turn.

The motor vehicle mounted the west side curb and struck a hydro pole, then struck an unoccupied parked motor vehicle and then hit a building on Woolwich Street.

The three occupants sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. Both vehicles in the collision were demolished. The vehicle and property damage is estimated at $50,000.

The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving, drive while under suspension and novice driver – blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above zero.
