Guelph Marlins enjoy impressive weekend at Easterns

Four Guelph swimmers either won medals, or achieved best times or new qualifying times

An impressive weekend was had by four Guelph Marlins swimmers at the Speedo Eastern Championships held in Windsor.

Qualifying for the meet were Jenna Walters, Andrea Luberti, Julian Twist, and Matthew Marsella.

Most of the swimmers either achieved best times, acquired some medal hardware or achieved new qualifying time standards in their best events.

Notably, Jenna Walters, 16, was awarded the Senior Female High Point Achiever at Easterns with her achievements of 1st place in the 50m Free, 100m Free, and 200m Free. Jenna's success has already resulted in her heading to compete at the Canadian Trials Meet in a couple of weeks. She will compete against top swimmers from all across Canada.

Jenna’s teammate, Matthew Marsella achieved his first Canadian Junior Nationals time in the 800m free with a time of 8:56 and this secures him a spot at Nationals this August.

Likewise, Julian Twist and Andrea Luberti both achieved personal best times, which allowed the team to finish 22nd overall out of 85 teams.

Final fesults from Easterns:

Jenna - 1st - 50m Free, 1st - 100m Free, 1st - 200m Free, 10th - 50m Back, 4th - 400m Free
