U10 Gold Medal

This is our Guelph Predators U10 Ringette Team.  We were in a tournament in Niagara Falls this past weekend and went 3-0 in the round robin.  We beat Pickering 5-4, London 8-1 and St. Catherines 7 -0.  We played Pickering again on Sunday in the finals and won a nail bitter 5-4.

The game was back and forth the whole time.  It was a hard fought game and we were fortunate enought to come out on top.  Our biggest accomplishment on the weekend was the sportsmanship these girls showed.

The St. Catherines team was heavily out matched this weekend and even lost one of their games 18-0.  After having a talk with the team, we decided that for our game against St. Catherines we would change everyones positions and give them some opportunities to play the ring.

The girls did a great job of doing this during the game.  Even though we won 7-0, both coaches from St. Catherines came over after the game and thanked us for what we had done.  They said there team was thrilled to play their closest game against the top team in the division.

The coaches said the girls were no longer hanging their heads in disappointment but instead were walking proudly that they finished on such a high note.  It was a small thing to do by our team, but the girls saw the joy it gave St. Catherines and they knew what they had done was the right thing.

As the head coach of this team I told them I was just as proud of them winning the gold medal as I was of them showing such great sportsmanship.
