Newly upgraded Kortright hills home has that classic neighbourhood feel

21 Hunters Lane is the ideal Guelph family home inside and out

It’s not always easy letting go. Especially when it’s a beautiful house in the fondly-remembered neighbourhood you grew up in and moved back into as an adult to raise a family of your own.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to leave,” said Rebecca Adams, current owner – and seller – of 21 Hunters Lane in Guelph’s highly regarded Kortright Hills area. “It’s an amazing family home, in a great neighbourhood on a street full of friendly people. I love that it has mature trees and lots of space compared to newer neighbourhoods.”

While parting can be sweet sorrow, Adams suggests anyone moving into 21 Hunters Lane will definitely have a reason to celebrate. That’s because the house has a fully renovated main floor interior, inspired by suggestions from HGTV’s female fixer-upper, Joanna Gaines. That means all new windows and new doors including one for the garage, big wooden exposed beam in the towering main floor ceiling, and a bright, modern look to complement the attractive layout. As beautiful as the interior is, however, it’s the view looking out that still holds a piece of Adam’s heart.

“Whoever did the original landscaping put a cherry blossom in front of both bay windows,” said Adams fondly. “So in the springtime and summertime, when you look out either window, all you see is cherry blossom. It’s a beautiful pink colour. You don’t see the other houses. It makes you feel like you’re in the country, looking through the window at all the greenery.”

That country feel is amplified by the fact the house sits on a beautiful tree-lined 72-foot by 130-foot corner lot, with a large back deck that’s perfect for soaking up equal amounts of sun, shade and scenery. Out front, an exquisitely manicured yard accentuated by an elegant stamped concrete driveway offers an inviting first impression for guests and visitors. The house includes three bedrooms, two baths and a framed basement with exceptionally large basement windows that allows new owners to add their own distinct finishing touches to the well-maintained property.

"It’s an amazing family home, in a great neighbourhood on a street full of friendly people."

For all it offers inside, it’s the joys of walking around outside and through the neighbourhood that Adams says makes the house an amazing investment for its next family – especially if that family includes a dog lover.

“We have a husky, and we’re a 12-minute walk from the Hanlon Off-Leash Dog Park. You don’t have to take busy streets to get there. There’s a path that takes you there under the Hanlon Parkway to the creek on the other side. If you’re a dog person, it’s fantastic.”

Don’t worry: if you’re more a people person than a dog person, Adams says there’s plenty of reasons to purchase 21 Hunter’s Lane.

“This neighbourhood is great community-wise. The street does fireworks every summer. They have done barbecues. It’s kind of like it used to be in the 80s and 90s when people got along, all the kids are friends and play together. It’s a really nice feeling.”
