GAC is channeling The Beatles these days, saying ‘Hello’ to two new staff members, Fan-Ling Suen and Preetam Sengupta, who will be sharing the role of Manager of Programs &Operations, and ‘Goodbye’ to Katie Wilde. Katie heads west at the end of April for new art adventures in Alberta.

Fan-Ling Suen is an arts administrator, a rural community organizer, and a multi-disciplinary visual artist. Among the many hats that she wears, Fan-Ling is also an organic vegetable grower, and takes pleasure in weaving together all of her passions to foster healthy communities through civic engagement and enriching arts programming. She is very excited to be an integral member of Guelph Arts Council, and looks forward to championing arts and culture in Guelph.

Preetam Sengupta is a storytelling singer-songwriter from Sarnia, but has called Guelph home for over ten years. His 2017 album “Patience” earned him a Folk Music Ontario Award that included a certificate which he gave to his parents. Often compared to Paul Simon, Preetam’s live show is built around simple performance, playful stage banter, very little pyro, and a genuine desire to connect with his audience.

Preetam is happy to be joining the GAC team, hoping to contribute to an already vibrant arts scene in Guelph, and looking forward to connecting with the many creators and lovers of the arts that reside in or visit our wonderful community.

Drop by the Guelph Arts Council office to say hello to Fan-Ling and Preetam. Generally, you’ll find both of them in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Fan-Ling on Thursdays. (And you can also drop by on Fridays to keep Patti company!) GAC regular hours are Tues – Friday, 10 to 4.

Please join us for a Farewell and Thank-You Gathering for Katie Wilde on Tuesday, April 16 at 5 pm, 10C Shared Space, 42 Carden. Katie's passion for art and community, generosity in helping artists, and talent as an artist, arts administrator, and art instructor will be greatly missed by her many friends and colleagues in Guelph. Please RSVP online.

Finally, save the date for our AGM & Sharefest on May 15 at 7pm at 10C Shared Space, where we keep the business items short so there is time to meet and chat with our new staff as well as other members, volunteers and supporters. It’s also a great opportunity to participate in Sharefest, a fun and casual blitz of members introducing themselves and their projects or creations in three minutes or less. Please join us and help our new team members put faces to your names.
