If you are a local arts supporter, art collector, or arts advocate, you’ll want to pay attention to an exciting exhibition coming to Guelph this April.
Temporary Collection is a brand-new exhibition model that promotes, exhibits and distributes artworks already purchased directly from artists. The collection supports 70 local, national and international artists for a total of 150 new media and contemporary artworks featured in the exhibition.
To see the exhibition, you can purchase a ticket from a unique price structure, with tickets ranging between $15 - $1500. Each ticket is paired with a 15-minute time slot for a video tour of the exhibition guided by the curators. At the end of the tour, you choose an artwork to keep. The higher priced tickets get you in to see the show sooner, which means more artwork for you to choose from and take home.
A list of available artworks can be previewed on the exhibition website ahead of time, so that visitors can speculate on their favourite pieces they might want to add to their collection. More artworks will be added March 23.
Though exhibition viewing will only take place via video tours, Temporary Collection will be fully installed in a 6500 sq/ft warehouse, located at 127 Woolwich St from April 15 – 19, 2021.
The concept for Temporary Collection was developed by Ed Video Program Director Scott McGovern. Temporary Collection invites anyone from around the world to speculate on and invest in art.
Part of the exhibition’s appeal is that 100% of ticket sales will go towards supporting artists financially in the future through Ed Video’s programming opportunities. Tickets are first-come, first-serve, and are a mutually beneficial way to support the arts and practicing artists.
All are welcome to participate in this new, daring and exciting exhibition, and experience first -hand how the collection is acquired and distributed.
