Building permits in Guelph/Eramosa down for second straight year

The value of construction has gone down in both 2021 and 2022

GUELPH/ERAMOSA — Guelph/Eramosa continued to see a decline in building permits in 2022.

In 2022 there were 274 building permits issued in the township, compared to 296 in 2021 and 328 in 2020, shows an annual report presented at the township's committee of the whole meeting this week.

The combined value of those building permits has also seen a decline: $36,168,512 in 2022, $44,135,265 in 2021 and $78,216,919 in 2020.

The most common type of permit request was in the category of residential other. That includes: additions, renovations, accessory buildings, decks, pools and similar projects.
