WELLINGTON COUNTY – The County of Wellington and Centre Wellington have announced additonal closures of public buildings.

The County Administration Centre, Social Services Office, County Garages and County re-use centres are all closed to the public.

Residents needing social assistance are asked to call (519)-837-6274.

County waste facilities remain open but residents are strongly encouraged to use curbside collection.

“At this time, all essential services will be provided and we will continue to operate and support our residents as best we can,” Warden Kelly Linton said in a press release.  “The health and safety of our residents and our staff continues to remain our top priority as we navigate through this rapidly changing situation.  The County of Wellington will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will be making all appropriate changes as necessary.”

Centre Wellington has decided to fully close all of its facilities to the public. All public meetings are cancelled until April 5. Staff are still available to assist and service residents by electronic means only.

Phones will be answered between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Taxes can be paid through financial institutions through the internet or telephone banking.

Building permits should be sent electronically through email to [email protected]. If residents do not have the ability to apply electronically, they can be left at the municipal drop box outside the main doors. Payment of building permit application fees are not required at time of application.

At this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wellington County.
