WELLINGTON COUNTY – The county and all seven member municipalities will waive all penalties and interest on both tax and water/sewer payments on 2020 amounts. This applies for 60 days from the due date.

A press release from the county says this will ensure residents and businesses facing financial hardship can defer their next property tax installment without penalty. Property tax accounts will be adjusted as necessary to reflect these measures.

“These initial relief measures reflect the county and all seven member municipalities’ concern for our residents and businesses well-being and economic conditions,” said Warden Kelly Linton in a press release.

Residents are encouraged to contact their local municipal office for more information on local relief efforts. The County of Wellington and the seven municipalities will continue to monitor closely and will be making changes as necessary.

“We will continue to work together and respond to the evolving challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Linton said in a press release.
