NEWS RELEASE
COUNTY OF WELLINGTON
*************************
The County of Wellington has approved an application from Little Angels Development Inc. Child Care Centre in Elora to provide 15 new emergency child care spaces for children up to 12 years of age.

The Little Angels Development Inc. Child Care Centre is located at 30 Geddes Street in Elora and will operate Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The county will offer this emergency child care option to families who applied and qualified for emergency child care under the Government of Ontario’s requirements.

Only eligible workers identified by the Government of Ontario will be able to access emergency child care through the County of Wellington. These spaces are only available to these families during the provincial shut-down period.

The county continues to work in partnership with the Ministry of Education to support health care and other frontline workers in Guelph and Wellington by providing access to licensed child care at no cost during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To date, the county has been able to provide a total of 85 centre-based emergency child care spaces in the City of Guelph and the County of Wellington,” said Luisa Artuso, Director of the County’s Children’s Early Years Division. “There are still a large number of families who require emergency child care in their own homes. For anyone interested in providing home child care, please visit www.wellington.ca/emergencychildcare.

All current child care policies and requirements set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, will apply to licensed child care settings providing emergency child care services. The county has worked with Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health to develop policies and procedures that will be required in the operation of approved emergency licensed child care settings to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
