CENTRE WELLINGTON — The Ontario Trillium Foundation has given the Fergus Scottish Festival a $50,000 grant.

The Aug. 11 to 13, 2022 festival was a success with 26,000 in attendance, involving heavy events, Scottish dance, and Scottish music.

The purpose of the OTF grant, $50,000, was to “rebuild” after COVID-19 as well as facilitate planning and execution of COVID-19-related necessities.

“This grant has allowed the festival to maintain operations and increase resilience in planning and presenting its first live event since 2019. Emerging from uncertain times, the grant has had a favourable outcome on the festival in the short term, however we are confident this is something that will no doubt continue well into the future,” said Matthew Bennett-Monty, vice president of the Fergus Scottish Festival.

“This iconic annual celebration of all things Scottish continues to bring thousands of visitors to our community each year, and we thank all the volunteers and sponsors who work so hard to make it possible,” said Ted Arnott, MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation invests in building communities, last year that was a total $209 million donated.
