Guelph resident faces stunt driving charge in Centre Wellington

Police say the 47-year-old was going over 145 km/h in an 80 zone

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Aug. 14, 2021 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Wellington Road 17. The officer observed a grey motor vehicle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be travelling well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h.

As a result, a 47-year-old Guelph resident has been charged with:

  • Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on Sept. 1, 2021.

Their driver's licence was suspended for a period of seven days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days as per statute.
