MAPLETON — Coun. Amanda Reid wants the speed limit lowered in front of Alma Public school.

Citing a commitment to protect local children, Reid's motion is as follows.

"That Council directs staff to change the by-law and the speed signs in front of Alma Public School on Simpson Street East in the Alma community from a 50 km/h zone to a 40 km/h zone."

Reid both has children and  works with children.

S has lived in Alma, with their husband and two children, since 2016. Apart from being a councillor, Reid is a daycare worker.

They have only been councillor for a brief period.
