Plans for new 40-home Inverhaugh subdivision progress

Centre Wellington will recommend the county give the Pasture Edge subdivision's plan draft approval

CENTRE WELLINGTON - The draft plan for a new subdivision in the Centre Wellington hamlet of Inverhaugh has the green light from the township. It will now go to the county for approval.

At Monday's meeting, Centre Wellington council voted unanimously to recommend the County of Wellington grant the plan draft approval, subject to a number of conditions.

The proposed subdivision, called Pasture Edge, is located near the corner of Sideroad 4 and Fourth Line E. It will include forty lots for single detached homes ranging from around 0.5 acres to 0.75 acres in size.

Planner Astrid Clos told council around 4.5 hectares of land at Pasture Edge will be given to the township. About 1.5 hectares of that will be open space, the remainder will accommodate stormwater management, but can also be used for passive recreational activities like walking.

Sidewalks will be built along new roads in the subdivision. Following a public meeting in July of 2019, the developer added a network of trails to the plan to improve connectivity.

Coun. Ian MacRae welcomed the addition and said creating pedestrian connections to link various new Inverhaugh subdivisions would be important as the community grew.

"We're building a sizeable hamlet," MacRae said. "One day soon children are going to be wanting to visit their friends in different parts of this hamlet, so how can we create safe corridors for them to use?"
