Upcoming webinar series focuses on youth issues around COVID-19

The BTogether Talk Series was born out of a need for a platform for youth to learn and discuss their issues

FERGUS – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington (BBBSCW) is bringing back a series of webinars that connect with youth on current issues affecting them.

The BTogether Talk Series is holding sessions each Wednesday starting next week with topics ranging from managing COVID-19-related stressors, adjusting to online learning, budgeting and job preparedness.

A press release states that the series was born out of the need for youth to be together during the pandemic when physical distancing was essential and resulted in some social isolation. 

BBBSCW’s youth action committee the BTogether Talk series to give youth a platform to be together, share and feel less isolated. 

Other youth groups have hosted sessions which led to BBBSCW and the Integrated Youth Services Network to collaborate and find local expert speakers for the series.

“By participating in the BTogether Talk Series, I have been able to learn about many different topics (related to mental health), meet different speakers and get many of my questions and intrigues answered,” said Abigail Taylor, youth action committee member.

“There are so many fun opportunities that the BHive is putting together and the BTogether Talk Series is definitely something I’ve loved to be a part of.”

The first session is on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. on managing the next stage of COVID-19.
