Guelph Medical Imaging (UMI) is comprised of three locations within the beautiful city of Guelph. We are privileged to serve the residents of Guelph and surrounding communities, and proud of the reputation in patient care and diagnostic excellence we have been able to achieve.

Our Radiologists are certified with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC). Our Technologists are certified and are amongst the most experienced in the industry. The support staff is experienced and dedicated to the highest possible level of patient care. Each member of the UMI team is here to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

We utilize state-of-the-art technology and offer the most advanced diagnostic services available; this makes our communication with your physician accurate and comprehensive which ensures diagnostic excellence from start to finish.

We have developed the following section to provide you with more detail on the procedures we offer. We always encourage people to become aware about the benefits and risks of all uses of imaging. In the case of medical exposures, it is good for the patient to be an active participant in the process.
How to Prepare

Depending on the type of exam you are having you may be required to do some preparation. You will be notified if you must follow special instructions 48 hours in advance of the examination. Please click on the type of examination you are having (under Examinations) to see if you may be required to follow some special directions.

Below is a list of general guidelines all patients should follow.

Preparation guidelines

  • Please dress comfortably in loose fitting clothes. You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your exam, unless advised otherwise by an UMI representative.
  • Ensure that you bring the referral form from your doctor and give it to reception as you check-in.
  • Bring your valid health card on the day of your appointment. If you do not have a valid health card, you will be charged for the cost of the service.
  • Notify the Receptionist if you are pregnant or taking any medication.

If you have any special needs you would like us to accommodate please let us know at least 24 hours in advance (preference for a male or female Technologist/Sonographer, physical limitations).

Please bring any prior radiological tests (x-rays, ultrasounds, etc.) these may be helpful to the Radiologist for means of comparison.

Please do not come to the examination if your are intoxicated or under the influence of illegal drugs.
