Guelph is getting a Chipotle restaurant

Popular Mexican restaurant chain to open in Edinburgh Market Place plaza this fall

A big name Mexican restaurant is heading to Guelph.

Chipotle Mexican Grill has confirmed it will open a new location in the Edinburgh Market Place plaza this fall.

According to a job posting on Chipotle’s corporate website, the company is looking for an apprentice general manager for a location at 492 Edinburgh Rd. S., which is the plaza that has the Metro grocery store as the anchor tenant.

“We are always looking for new communities where we can bring our real food prepared with classic cooking techniques and establish new local partnerships, and the Guelph area is a great fit,” Chipotle spokesperson Annie Gradinger said in an email.

“We’re pleased with the response to our existing locations in Mississauga and Ancaster, and hope the community enjoys our upcoming Guelph restaurant.”

On average, she said there are 30 jobs per location.

It’s not known when renovations will begin, but the plaza has one vacant unit at the corner, beside the Rogers store in the former Mucho Burrito location.

There are 26 Chipotle locations open in Ontario, mostly in the Greater Toronto Area.
