Marlins 3rd place finish at Ontario Swimming Championships

This past weekend, March 5th through March 8th at the Toronto Pan AM Pool in Scarborough, 18 Guelph Marlins swimmers qualified and swam in the Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC). This is a provincial meet that this year hosted 82 clubs and approximately 650 swimmers from all over the province. At the end of the weekend, results have the Guelph Marlins celebrating with 3rd place in Ontario overall out of all the teams that participated.
Many of our swimmers had multiple swims and with the eye on either placing in the top 10, making their first or additional Eastern National Qualifiers and the greatest goal of making their first Jr Trials (Olympic Trials) cut or adding more to their palette.
Many of the Marlins achieved what they set out to do. Colin Campbell, Tristan Jankovics, Alex Jensen, and Ali Kudo made their first time qualifications for Jr Trials (Olympic Trials). Bringing GMAC’s presence to the Olympic Trials in April to 15 swimmers.
Jordan Tucker, our S5 Para athlete broke her own Canadian record in the 50 Fly with a time of 57.97s.
Russell Burton won the high point award for the 16&over Male Category.
Ethan Mark made his first Easterns Meet Cut.
Hard work is paying off for this team but there are lots of hours training in the pool to go before the Marlins swimmers get their chance at the Olympic Trials March 30 – April 5th and Easterns Canadian Championships April 16th to 19th!
