GUELPH MARLIN AQUATIC CLUB

The Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club (GMAC) saw its Blue Marlins, Jr. Marlins House League, and Sr. Marlins House League groups, consisting of over 85 novice swimmers, compete against 300 swimmers from three visiting swim clubs at the GMAC November Skills and Thrills Meet. This event took place on Nov. 5 at the University of Guelph pool, spanning two sessions.
The Blue Marlins and Marlins House League groups comprise some of GMAC's youngest and newest swimmers. Many of them initially honed their swimming skills through the Marlins' in-house Learn to Swim Lessons program before transitioning to these pre-competitive groups. These swimmers have the opportunity to train 2-3 times per week and participate in four home meets throughout the season. This exposure allows them to experience competitive swim racing and benefit from increased practice frequency compared to their previous weekly swim lessons.
Becky Randall, who serves as the Guelph Marlin's Coach, is a former Marlins swimmer and an alum of American University's swim team. She expressed her immense pride in the swimmers, acknowledging the remarkable progress they've made since September. She also emphasized the strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork among the swimmers, as they cheered and celebrated each other's achievements.
Looking ahead, the Guelph Marlins will host their Dash for Cash meet to be helf at the UofG pool Dec. 8-10, providing another exciting opportunity for competition.
