Horvath scores overtime winner for Mooseheads in 5-4 win over Sea Dogs

HALIFAX — Jason Horvath scored an overtime winner in a 5-4 Halifax Mooseheads win over the Saint John Sea Dogs in Halifax Saturday night.

The Mooseheads took a 2-0 lead partway through the second period before allowing four unanswered goals from the Sea Dogs. Halifax then responded with three unanswered of their own, including Horvath's game-winner at 2:51 of overtime.

Robert Orr, Elliot Desnoyers, Jordan Dumais and Brendan Tomilson also scored for the Mooseheads. Brady Burns, Cam MacDonald, Jérémie Poirier and Peter Reynolds scored for the Sea Dogs.

Goaltender Alexis Gravel made 30 saves for Halifax (5-5-2) while Noah Patenaude turned aside 31 shots for Saint John (2-5-4) in a losing effort.

Halifax outshot Saint John 36-34.

ISLANDERS 6 WILDCATS 4

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I -- Cédric Desruisseaux scored twice as the Charlottetown Islanders sunk the Moncton Wildcats 6-4 in Charlottetown on Saturday evening.

Patrick LeBlanc, Drew Johnston, Justin Gill and Thomas Casey also scored for the Islanders (9-2-0).

Gabriel Fortier, Dominic Leblanc, Charles-Antoine Pilote and Jordan Spence scored for the Wildcats (5-5-0).

Colten Ellis turned aside 20 shots for Charlottetown. Nicholas Sheehan stopped 26 shots for Moncton. Charlottetown outshot Moncton 32-24.

EAGLES 3 TITAN 1

SYDNEY, N.S. -- The Cape Breton Eagles defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 3-1 in Cape Breton on Saturday evening.

Liam Kidney scored the game winning goal for the Eagles at 15:36 of the third period. Shawn Element and Félix Lafrance also scored for the Eagles.

Adam McCormick scored the only goal for the Titan.

Nicolas Ruccia made 22 saves for Cape Breton (6-6-0). Chad Arsenault turned away 38 shots for Acadie-Bathurst (7-3-2). Cape Breton outshot Acadie-Bathurst 41-23.

HUSKIES 3 PHOENIX 2

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. -- The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies beat the Sherbrooke Phoenix 3-2 in Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday afternoon.

Samuel Régis, Alex Beaucage and Coen Strang scored for the Huskies (3-4-1). Charles Tremblay and Samuel Poulin scored for the Phoenix (0-5-0).

Zachary Emond stopped 37 shots for Rouyn-Noranda. David Provencher turned away 24 shots for Sherbrooke. Sherbrooke outshot Rouyn-Noranda 39-27.
