Two Toronto-area men face drug charges following their arrests in downtown Guelph Thursday.

Guelph police began surveillance Thursday after one of the males was observed visiting an address known to be involved in the drug subculture. Several meetings consistent with drug trafficking were observed.

Approximately 4:20 p.m. officers approached two males as they left an address near Neeve Street and Howitt Street. The males ran in opposite directions but were both arrested following short foot pursuits.

Officers recovered quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, Percocet pills and more than $1,000 cash.

A 26-year-old Mississauga man and 26-year-old Brampton man are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possessing a controlled substance. They were both held for bail hearings.
