Our mission at Sudbury.com is to strengthen the communities we serve and in the spirit of strengthening the Sudbury community, we are spearheading a food drive in support of the Sudbury Food Bank.

The holidays can be a stressful time for many families and now more than ever, the Sudbury Food Bank needs our help to keep the shelves stocked.

In response to that need, we asked The Real Canadian Superstore to donate food packages for our loyal readers to purchase for the food bank through an online pop-up store.

Sudbury.com then matched whatever was purchased as a cash donation to the food bank.

But that’s not all.

We know that Sudbury is full of caring individuals and businesses who would generously donate to this initiative as well. So, we contacted a number of local businesses to see if they would also like to match reader contributions with a cash donation.

As a result, for every food package purchased in our pop-up store from now until Dec. 15 at 12 p.m., each dollar will be matched by 25 times and all proceeds will go directly to the food bank.

That means your $25 donation will be turned into a $650 donation!

Here is how you can buy a food package in support of the Sudbury Food Bank:

  • Log in to your Sudbury.com account (or register for free).
  • Select a food package you would like to donate and enter your credit card details.
  • Check the 'Confirm’ button and click ‘Donate’ to confirm your purchase.
  • That's it, you did it! You gave back to our community this holiday season.

Thanks to the Real Canadian Superstore for donating the food packages for this initiative. The following businesses who have joined us in matching each donation: A&J Home Hardware, Aaron Taxi, Bestech, Buzzy Brown’s Brasserie, Cambrian Ford, Diggs & Dwellings, Doyle Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Equipment World Sudbury, FROSKR, Northern Hockey Academy, Northern Law, Palladino Auto Group, Querney's Office Plus, Ranger’s Cremation & Burial Services, Rastall Mine Supply Limited, SHYFTinc, Skater’s Edge Source for Sports, Spencer Furniture & Lighting, Softub Spas, Sudbury E-bikes, The Ames Team REMAX, Top Steel, Topper’s Pizza and Tulloch Engineering Sudbury.

Sudbury.com is proud to lead this worthwhile cause in an effort to reduce hunger and poverty in our community, particularly as the holiday season draws near.

Programs like this and support from businesses and community members - like you - help us to give back to Sudbury.
