Arrest made in historical sexual assault investigation

Incident took place in February; victim and accused knew each other, police say

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON – On May 25, 2020, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a historical sexual assault that occurred at a campground on the Eighth Line in the Township of Centre Wellington.

The sexual assault occurred in February, 2020 and the victim and the accused were known to each other.

As a result, [charge withdrawn] of Elora has been charged with sexual assault contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Sept. 4, 2020 to answer to the charge.
