A Guelph man, 36,  faces several charges after he allegedly damaged his own vehicles in order to file an insurance claim.

On Feb. 15, police heard from a man who claimed two vehicles were damaged in his driveway by “unknown suspects.” Following an investigation, police came to a different conclusion.

“Police allege the male damaged his own vehicles, then called his insurance company to file a claim,” states a police news release.

A man was arrested on Saturday and charged with public mischief, fraud over $5,000 and breaching a recognizance order.
