Community Builders Awards: Kristel Manes honoured for fostering economic development in Guelph

Winner of this year’s Economic Development category Kristel Manes has made a positive impact for business owners, entrepreneurs in our community

Kristel has been the Executive Director for Business Centre Guelph-Wellington for over four years.

During that time, she has pioneered new programs, breathed life into legacy programs and helped to steer the organization through major change during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout the pandemic, Kristel helped over 2,000 businesses in the Guelph-Wellington region access grants and other opportunities for funding.

Her goal is to make it easier for new entrepreneurs to get into business and overcome the obstacles that new businesses face.

One of the ways she has accomplished this is through developing a partnership between the Business Centre and Innovation Guelph to ensure that they are helping female entrepreneurs grow. This led to the creation of the Rhyze Ventures program, which combines learning, doing and targeted hands-on expertise to help women-led businesses thrive.

Kristel continues to foster positive relationships and growth within the business community and build bridges between organizations with a focus on paving the way for a prosperous and innovative future here in Guelph.

The Economic Development Award is presented to an individual who has had an important impact on the economic well-being of our community.

Congratulations, Kristel!

This award is proudly sponsored by Invest in Guelph.
