If you are thinking of purchasing a vehicle and unsure of what it will need to pass, the only way to find out what is required is to have a standard safety inspection performed. Having a vehicle inspected before it is purchased is strongly recommended to avoid any surprises. Be Aware! Not all safety inspections pass! Time and time again cars are being purchased 'as is' for a good deal. However, these cars may not be certifiable. Some vehicles may look and drive great but may have structural issues like rusted rebar, floor or rockers. Issues like these may take thousands of dollars to repair. In order to transfer ownership, a vehicle must pass a standard safety inspection. Safety inspections take approximately 1+ hours to complete and include a comprehensive inspection of a vehicles components. The standard safety inspection was updated as of July 1, 2016. The new standard now includes an inspection report that must be provided to the consumer; ESC (electronic stability control) and airbags on vehicles 2011 and newer must function; the vehicle must be road tested and window tinting must be tested on vehicles manufactured on or after Jan.1, 2017.
