There were lots of people and businesses doing there bit to help feed those less fortunate both during the pandemic and before it struck in Guelph.

Kirtida Kitchen is in a way representing all of them.

The family restaurant on Eramosa Road gave away 3,500 meals during the pandemic, faithfully showing in the parking lot across from Royal City Mission on Quebec Street on Sundays to distribute containers filled with Indian food.

"The people are so glad that they have the hot meals on Sunday morning," said Hitesh Jagard, who owns the restaurant along with wife Kirtida.

They also donated over 350 hot meals through the Guelph Food Bank.

“Guelph is a very nice town and they are also supporting small businesses," said Jagard, "So we thought, why not support the town the way they're supporting us?"
