WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP – On August 1, 2016 at 11:16 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Wellington North Fire Services responded to a collision involving a car and a motorcycle in the intersection of Wellington Road 16 and Wellington Road 109 in Wellington North Township.

Investigation revealed that a 1977 Pontiac Lemans was southbound on Wellington Road 16 when it collided with a 1999 Honda motorcycle that was traveling westbound on Wellington Road 109.

The 48-year-old male driver of the motorcycle from Brethour Township was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old male driver of the Pontiac from the Town of Erin was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and later released.

The collision is currently being investigated by Wellington County OPP Technical Collision Investigators and the West Region OPP Highway Safety Division Reconstructionist.  

Sections of Wellington Road 16 and Wellington Road 109 were closed temporarily and have since reopened.
