GUELPH SPORTS HALL OF FAME

The Guelph Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors is pleased to announce that former CFL All-star linebacker Simoni Lawrence will be attending the 2024 Kiwanis Sports Celebrity Dinner and Induction Ceremony as a head table guest this Wednesday night, May 15th at the Italian Canadian Club at 7 p.m.
The Upper Darby, PA native spent 11 seasons in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2013, 2014-23) and Edmonton (2012) and is considered one of the league’s all-time great linebackers.
The 35-year-old is the Tiger-Cats’ franchise leader in multiple categories, including total tackles (734), defensive tackles (727) and single-game tackles (17), while his 742 career defensive tackles rank 10th in CFL history.
Lawrence is a three-time CFL All-Star (2015, 2019, 2021), a five-time CFL East Division All-Star (2014-2016, 2019, 2021) and was named the East Division’s nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player three times (2015, 2019, 2021).
Being inducted into the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame that evening are Paul Ante (Builder-Baseball), Danielle Everitt-Sinclair (Athlete-Fastball/Basketball), Pat teBoekhorst (Builder-Figure Skating) and Dave Clutchey (Builder-Swimming).
Lawrence will join local PanAm Games gold medallist Kiara Lylyk, award-winning sportswriter Steve Milton, hockey gold medallist Vicky Sunohara and triathlete Sasha Beck as head table guests on Wednesday night.

The induction ceremony will take place during the Kiwanis Sports Celebrity Dinner at the Italian Canadian Club on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online by visiting www.guelphsportshalloffame.com for $120 per adult and $50 for students 17 years of age and younger.
