Environment Canada warns a flash freeze is expected late today. The flash freeze alert area stretches from Sault Ste. Marie to northeast Quebec.

A cold front will sweep across the region late this afternoon through this evening, potentially causing icy and slippery surfaces.

Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly behind the front. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops. Sudden icy conditions may occur on roads and walkways.

A flash freeze warning is in effect for:

  • North Bay - West Nipissing - Mattawa - Powassan
  • Highway 11 corridor north of North Bay
  • Highway 17 west of North Bay

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
