Guelph Tree Trust is aiming to save another tree in the city by providing arborist care for a silver maple tree at the Muslim Society of Guelph.

The event is on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. located on 286 Water St. People are welcome to come watch the arborists climb the tree to prune it.

Donations are welcomed. Money raised goes to pay for the care of the tree and other trees in Guelph.

Guelph Tree Trust members will be onsite to give information about the tree. Doug Steel from Full Circle Tree Care is the arborist leading his team pruning the tree.

Older trees are often removed due to a lack of care which creates unsafe conditions for people or because there is a threat to the health of the trees.

The silver maple provides shade to children from the Montessori Centre who use the playground. Students and families from the Montessori Centre and the Meezan School are invited as special guests.

“Guelph Tree Trust is ensuring this silver maple will receive the care it needs so the countless benefits to the community and environment of its huge canopy and root system remain for as long as possible,” said in a press release.
