Last year, Inspiration Guelph rocked the stage at the River Run Centre – this year, it will rock the stage in your home. The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is very excited to announce Inspiration 2020 will be a virtual concert this year! The concert will stream live on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.

Headlining the show this year is Scott Helman, a Canadian-born Juno Award Winner. Alongside Scott, Guelph-based artist, MIKALYN, opens the stage. A Battle of the Bands-style contest called Stage Wars was held to find young, local talent to open the show. Out of all the amazing entries, MIKALYN took the winning spot.

When asked to describe her act, MIKALYN said “‘I Love You Too Much’ was written, recorded, and shot here in Guelph.  My friend Chris and I produced the entire project ourselves with no budget. ‘Gravity’ is a vulnerable song about love and my goal is to push myself to write and perform in a way that will blur lines between genres and eras, and make compelling and beautiful music whether alone on a stage with my piano or in a studio with full production."

This is Inspiration’s 8th year as an event to help raise funds for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. The event is typically held at the River Run Centre located downtown Guelph. Although this year has brought about change, Inspiration chooses to go on and make an impact in our community.

Every year, the proceeds raised go directly to the Foundation’s Free to Grow Program, which nurtures the physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being of children and youth by funding recreational and life-skill opportunities such as sports, arts, camps, driver's education training and leadership development. The Foundation believes all children and youth should be given the same opportunities in life.

Emma, CEO at the foundation, remarks on their first virtual event, “Even though we cannot have a face-to-face event, it is still important for children to grow and for people to have fun even if it is just in their house. We are always very excited to see what Inspiration brings every year and we know this year will be no different. Everyone has worked tirelessly to bring together our first virtual concert and we’re really proud of the entire team. Go team!”
